The new ER5 generation (Kawasaki ER-6n) also now better engine performance and larger engine capacity, ER-6n uses 649cc of engine capacity, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, Parallel-Twin, DOCH with 8 valves, it's all almost the same with the ER5 edition but the Kawasaki ER-6n has larger engine capacity and it has equipped with fuel-injection system for more friendly fuel consumption. The power also increased, 2012 Kawasaki ER-6n has 72.1 PS @8,500 rpm of maximum power and 64 N.m @7,000 rpm of maximum torque.

While the performance of ER5 not as good as ER-6n, but ER5 has lighter of weight with 179 kg of dry weight while the 2012 ER-6n has 204 kg, so if you consider about the motorcycles curb mass, the ER5 is better weight than ER-6n, ER5 (800 mm) also has lower seat height than ER-6n (805 mm).
